Pure Rhythm

At Pure Rhythm our aim is to develop the students confidence in a fun, lively, stimulating way whatever their ability. We want to share the magic, enthusiasm and passion that we all have for the Arts, engaging the students in body and mind in a exhilarating way. All staff are professional performers or ex-performers who enjoy sharing their wealth of experience. From students that come for fun, to students that follow it as a career 'Pure Rhythm feels like a big family' say many of the students.

The School

Pure Rhythm School Of Performing Arts started in 2003. Classes are run by experienced, professional, qualified teachers and performers, with a variety of guest teachers coming in from West End shows. Pure Rhythm School Of Performing Arts put on a large production once a year involving all students from the main school. During the year students take part in local shows, displays, events and are encouraged to audition for shows locally in Cambridge or in London. In summer Pure Rhythm runs a summer course for a week with a performance on the last day.

Pure Rhythm goes into schools in Cambridge and Essex providing dance within their productions and classes after school or within school time alongside the National Curriculum.

Meet The Team


SUE RAVEN   ARAD, AISTD Obtained   PRINCIPAL/DANCE

Sue is a former professional dancer trained in Cambridge from the age of 5, before going on to train at Bush Davies School, one of the UK's leading Ballet schools at the time. 

After Bush Davies Sue embarked on a successful dance career, which took her to Spain, Italy, Portugal and Dubai. She danced in pop videos with bands such as Queen, performing with the legendary Freddie Mercury and choreographed by Arlene Phillips, appeared in TV commercials, fashion shows, pantomimes and TV work, including The Bill and London's Burning. Sue had her own dance act that worked as a support act for international stars like Jim Davidson and David Essex.

Pure Rhythm started through Sue wanting to share her passion for the performing arts and wanting children to be able to experience excellent training, which enables them to build in confidence and self esteem. A production is put on every year which every student takes part in and for many students it is the highlight of their year.  

CHARLOTTE PERRY DANCE

Charlotte was born in Cambridge and grew up in Hertfordshire, England. Growing up Charlotte danced as a hobby at her local dance school, Graham School Of Dance, before she decided she wanted to peruse a career in dance. She then went onto college to do a 3 year course of musical theatre training at Laine Theatre Arts. 
Since graduating in 2014 Charlotte’s credits include:
Magic Mike Live London, Emergency Cover mermaid & aerialist. Magic Mike Live Berlin, Mermaid & aerialist. 

Assistant for installing & rehearsals for Mirage productions. Thursford Christmas Spectacular, Dancer. Bodyguard Das Musical, Ensemble. Tarzan Das Musical, Ensemble. Cats The Musical, Victoria, Royal Caribbean. Fred Olsen Cruise Lines, Dancer, Mirage Productions. Aladdin & Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs, Ensemble, First Family. 

TEREL NUGENT     DRAMA

Terel Nugent has been working in the business from a young age, having trained at The Sylvia Young Theatre School.

His many musical theatre credits include The Wizard of Oz (Palladium), Hairspray (Shaftesbury), Ragtime (Piccadilly), Porgy & Bess (Savoy) Mary Poppins, The original London Production, and most recently The Book of Mormon (Prince of Wales) and Beautiful - The Carole King Musical (Aldwych). Other theatre includes The Enchanted Pig and the The Human Comedy (Young Vic) and The Royal Hunt of The Sun (NT) among many others.

CONOR MATHERS

Conor is a recent Musical Theatre Graduate having studied at Emil Dale Academy for three years . Originally from Newry, Northern Ireland. Conor grew up in a family of Musicians and received tuition in Trumpet, Piano, Guitar and singing form a young age.He fell in love with Theatre at the age of 12 .From then on his passion was in the Performing Arts and he moved to train at EDA to pursue his dream.

He appeared as the leading role in The Wedding singer in his last year and will be making his professional stage debut in Chipping Norton’s production of Cinderella this Christmas.

We often welcome Guest teachers from the industry from Ariel work to puppetry, commercial Dance to all things Musical Theatre!

Pure Rhythm is very excited to be chosen to become an Emil Dale Academy Partner. Emil Dale trains people in triple-threat musical Theatre .They offer part time training and and a full time three year training for ages - 16+- BA Hons in Musical Theatre , 1 year course with cert-HE in Musical Theatre performance and a 2 year sixth form course in musical Theatre. By being in partnership with them our students are invited to workshops, talks, priority booking for the summer school and access to master classes.
